If you were a child in the 1960s, you might be familiar with Dorothy Anstett, who held the title of Miss USA in 1968. She has largely avoided the spotlight at the age of 75.
To find out more about her career in beauty pageants, including how it began and who her well-known ex is, keep reading.
Background Info
One of nine children, Dorothy Anstett was born on June 28, 1947, in Washington to an employee of an aircraft plant.
Only one of her six bedrooms in the lakeside Kirkland, Washington, home, which had four sisters and four brothers (ages 3-23 in 1968), was then outside the family’s six-bedroom home.
She wouldn’t have become Miss USA if she hadn’t been born into such a big family, according to Ansett.
She attributed her pageantry victory to her initial attempt to get money to pay for education in a 1960s interview.
All of her siblings, according to Anstett, had jobs, so she competed in a local beauty contest to make money to pay for her tuition at the University of Washington.
Anstett finally found herself a rising celebrity in the pageantry industry as a result of a series of events.
She was obtaining an English degree at the time of her significant victory with the goal of working as a full-time teacher.
Miss USA 1968
She participated in the Miss Washington pageant in 1967, a year before to her significant victory. She went on to win Miss Washington US the next year after finishing in second place.
Paulette Reck of Baltimore, who was the reigning Miss Maryland, lost to Dorothy for the title of Miss USA in 1968.

Russell was a five-time NBA Most Valuable Player, a 12-time NBA All-Star, and an 11-time NBA champion throughout his basketball career. He led the team that captured the gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics. One of the all-time best basketball players, according to many, is him.

He and Rose got divorced in 1973 after becoming “emotionally distant” from one another.

In 1996, sixteen years after they first met, he wed Marilyn Nault, his third wife. Up until her dying in 2009, they were wed.
Sadly, Bill died on July 31, 2022, when he was 88 years old.
